Run for the Ribbons

Started in 2010, the 5k Run for the Ribbons, marked a new partnership between the Carolina Horse Park's Stoneybrook Steeplechase and the Foundation of FirstHealth's Cancer Care Fund -- the named charity. In it's inaugural year, the 5K foot race and the 1K fun run brought approximately 500 new people to the Park on race day and in 2011, saw a significant increase with nearly 600 entries. 

CHP and the Foundation of FirstHealth provide participants of all ages and abilities the unique experience of running or walking a 5K or 1K on a steeplechase track-- just like the race horses later in the day. The 5K race course also meanders through the Park's cross-country course and some of the 250 acres that make up the facility. Both the 5K and 1K races will recognize local cancer survivors and provide all runners and walkers an opportunity to participate in honor or memory of family and friends affected by cancer. Participants are also able to show support and highlight the leading cancers diagnosed and treated in the Sandhills with the colorful Ribbons of Hope that are distributed prior to the race.

As part of the Sandhills Race Series, 100 participation points will be awarded for the 5k as well as performance points to overall and age group winners.
